Development Strategy

MicroIslet has licensed patented technologies from Duke University Medical Center for the isolation, culture, cryopreservation, and immuno-protection (microencapsulation) of insulin-producing islet cells.

The company's near term development strategy includes:

  • Optimize the proprietary microencapsulated porcine islet technology.

  • Conduct preclinical animal studies to support regulatory filings for MicroIslet-P™.

  • Plan pilot xenotransplantation human clinical studies employing MicroIslet's encapsulation technology in a yet to be determined foreign country.

  • Conduct or sponsor research to expand MicroIslet's portfolio of cell source and cell delivery systems. This includes research into stem cells, cell proliferation lines, and macroencapsulation devices.
